Overpriced Water
By Captain Garbarrassing | July 21, 2008
The other day my friend pulls out this bottle of water labeled Bling H20 with tiny crystals forming the letters. He says to me, somewhat sarcastically, "You have to try this water it's soooo good."
So I try it and, naturally it's plain old water, so I respond "It just tastes like water." He laughed and then told me that this particular bottle costs $40 and proceeded to make fun of the people
who actually buy it (he got his for free).
So why is Bling garbarrassing? Well the only thing we found, was that on the bottle, it says they won the Gold Medal of Excellence in the Berkeley International Water Tasting Award.
So we checked out Berkeley's website to see if this contest was legitimate and it was. However, Bling H20 was not listed has having won any awards. See for yourself:
False Advertising? The truth is, Bling H20 really isn't so garbarrassing. Maybe they lied about winning an award, but what they have managed to do is incredible.
Through marketing and the unique design of their bottles, they are now able to sell a 750ml bottle of water at $40 a pop. It truly is amazing.
On the other hand, the people who buy Bling H20 are extremely garbarrassing. These are the type of people who spend money on products they could buy for much less,
in order to show off their wealth. It is truly disgusting that people are willing to pay $40 for a bottle of water, when that money could go towards something so much more important.
Even if the water tasted a little different (which it doesn't), it would still not be ok. Each bottle costs a year's salary for some people, and its JUST WATER (Yes, there are actually people in the world
that make $40 a year)!!!
Garbarrassing.com salutes Bling H20! We wouldn't ever recommend buying it, but any company who can actually sell a bottle of water for $40 deserves some kudos.
As for its customers, we give you a rating of garbarrassing minus. Have fun showing people that you just paid $40 for a bottle of water. You will be laughed at by all those you brag to.
Until next week everyone!
